Facilities

Dining

Meal times are a social occasion when families, staff and young people come together to enjoy our delicious home-cooking. Dean our much maligned chef copes with all types of diet and can provide Halal and Kosher food by arrangement.

Jacuzzi

Our hydrotherapy pool is a favourite centre of activity. It provides an opportunity for fun, therapy and most of all relaxation. Our parents love it and even let the kids in sometimes!

Soft Play Room

This has a jungle theme and is often referred to as the ‘monkey room’. It certainly allows our ‘little monkeys’ a chance to run off excess energy – particularly when it’s raining!

Snoezelen

Our Snoezelen room provides an interactive, stimulating environment. The children can relax on the heated waterbed whilst different light effects, aromas and sound effects stimulate the senses. It is particularly enjoyed by those of our young people who have limited movement but can also be calming for more hyperactive children.

Music Room

One of the greatest treats is a session with Brigitte in the Music Room. Music is used to help children communicate, provide stimulation and help to soothe the ‘troubled breast’.

In addition to individual sessions we have group music times in the main lounge.

We also have groups of musicians who come and perform for us on a regular basis.

Aromatherapy and Massage Room

Massage is a pleasurable experience which gives rise to a feeling of well being and of relaxation. It can ease aches and pains as tension nodules are broken down.

Francis House has two members of the Care team who are qualified children’s nurses but who are also trained in massage techniques.

They offer massage, aromatherapy and reflexology sessions to all family members. Treatments takes place in a dedicated private room and is a completely confidential service.

Prayer Room

Francis House caters for people of all faiths and no faith.

Our chapel is a peaceful setting where regular worship takes place. It is a place of quietness where people can pray, meditate or just sit and be still.

Rainbow Rooms

We have two suites with private garden areas which allow us to care for a young person after they have died. Special bedrooms similar to our other bedrooms in Francis House can be chilled to mortuary standards. The room is decorated with the child’s personal items, toys, posters, photographs. Staff continue their high standard of care. Each bedroom opens onto a comfortable private lounge where family and friends can find time to share in their sadness. Families are free to come and go as they choose.  The Rainbow Suites allow families time to say goodbye whilst the Francis House team deals with their everyday needs.
