Charity Golf Week Almerimar, Spain

Over one hundred people including seventy two golfers joined us this year for our Annual October golfing holiday in Almerimar Spain. Golfers came mainly from Manchester, North Cheshire and Shropshire areas and nineteen golfers from the Bahia San Miguel Society based in Spain.

The holiday raised over £5,000 for Francis House.

Money was raised from raffles and organised putting competitions, spur of the moment fund raisers like the La Envia “Ball Chucking “ Nearest the Pin Competition, from the roof terrace.

The raffle tickets were sold by Liz Robertson one of our non golfers who regularly makes sure that nobody escapes participation.

The Putting Competitions  were  sponsored by Mellor Road Garage of Cheadle Hulme where the winner has one putt for a prize of £5,000. None of the putts for the big money was successful but the winners won GPS Golf SatNav Shotsavers donated by Performance Products Ltd, Runcorn.

Many of our group made special donations. Thanks must also be mentioned to our travel specialists Your Golf Travel for a very generous donation. The Lladro Porcelain Company who donated four pieces to the raffle. Local golf clubs in the Manchester area donated games of golf for four.

Thanks also to AFI UK Ltd who very kindly had the equipment for the trip freighted to Almeria at no charge to the hospice. Special mention to Nick Bishop of Your Golf Travel and Jeff Coupe who did a splendid job of scoring and making sure everybody got to the Tee on time.

The Gala Dinner and Presentation of prizes was held on the final evening at the Nautico Restarante, on  the Marina at Almerimar. The group jointly bought a Lladro figurine at auction which they donated for display at the hospice.
