Less than a month after the Premier League season kicked off, football related fundraising has scored a hat-trick for Francis House.
Permission was granted by Manchester City for a collection outside the Etihad Stadium for their first game of the season against Huddersfield Town.
Supporters including teams from the Inner Wheel of Manchester, Barclays Manchester, HMRC and Kingsland Drinks, collected more than £1,566 from generous fans.
The Northern Racket Sports and Fitness Club were among those gripped with football fever during the World Cup and held a sweepstake raising £60.
The warehouse at Sharston based Interpart UK, was the setting for a World Cup penalty shootout, with each participant representing a different country.
For every goal scored, the company donated £25 to the hospice.
A tense final saw Romania and Mauritius go to head to head, with Mauritius eventually claiming the victory. The knuckle-biting competition raised £675.
"“I thought it would be a good idea to have our own World Cup shootout represented by some of the alternative countries that were not in the competition, but are one of the many countries that we trade with. We like to support Francis House as they are a local charity who do excellent work.”
Richard Watson, Executive Director at Interpart
