Caring for the Children at Francis House

The Multi-Sensory Room

It's also known as the 'Snoozeroom' - taken from the original Dutch name of Snoozelen.

the 'Snoozeroom' Like everything else about Francis House this is also a place to relax and have fun. There are various lighting and sound effects, mirrors and bubble tubes, fibre-optic multi-coloured strands, a warm water mattress, music and aromatic oils, which all help to enhance the experiences of the children.

For some children, the experience stimulates reactions not witnessed before to the great delight of everyone and for others, it seems to help relax very taught little bodies stressed with their illnesses.

A continuous slide show projects various images around the entire room - so the children can enjoy an 'under the sea' experience, or feel they are travelling in outer Space.
