After their success last year in the Born Survivor assault course, the Oldham Bronchomania team – a self-styled group of respiratory care professionals and friends – took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise money for Francis House.

The 24 mile route in the Yorkshire National Park takes in the peaks of Pen-y- Ghent, Wernside and Ingleborough and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The group included: Pio Monaghan, Natasha Thomas, Erin McEvoy-Crompton, Nafil Mubarak, Laura Ahearn, Timothy Lau, Georges Ng Man Kwong, David Pitchforth and Kaytlin Elston.

Consultant chest physician, Georges Ng Man Kwong said: “We took on the long distance walk to challenge ourselves both physically and mentally, working as a team to support each other and motivated to raise monies for a good cause in Francis House.

“The day started and ended in high spirits with some impromptu singing led by sisters Kaytlin and Natasha Elston including rather appropriately ‘Ain’t no mountain high enough.”

The event on Saturday, May 6 coincided with the King’s Coronation and the group marked the day by flying the flag at the top of each peak.

Later that same month, two of the team, Georges and Laura Ahearn ran the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon in aid of Francis House to extend the fundraising and replicate their efforts of 2021.

Georges, Laura and the team are now planning a third charity event in July with an Oldham Bronchomania Summer of Lungs party for hospital staff and friends. Tickets will include a minimum donation with the aim of pushing the overall fundraising total to £2000.
