Bishop of Salford Blesses the Building

bishopOn Monday 10th March 2014 the Bishop of Salford, the Right Reverend Terence Brain blessed the new teenage and young adult extension before being given a tour of the new facilities.  As construction work is now complete the Bishop joined volunteers, religious sisters, senior members of staff, Father Thomas Mulheran and the Francis House Chaplain Revd David Ireland to celebrate a momentous day for Francis House.

Bishop Brain said,

“Today we are dedicating this building and the work that is done in it to ask for the blessing of Almighty God.  As Christians we have a clear understanding of what that means and I know too that many of the people that come here to seek the support and comfort of Francis House are of all faiths and no faith.  But for all of them when they come they have hope.  They say hope springs eternal and it is eternal.  Even when somebody dies and their life comes to an end, there is still a hope that they are somewhere where they are at peace and somewhere where they are fulfilled.  So this concept or this understanding of God is in everybody’s heart.  Perhaps not always knowing how to express it but is there.  God’s gift of love will be on this house and the people who come here and work here.”

A short period of fitting out the building with intelligent control systems and furnishings will follow with the aim of accommodating the first young people in the coming weeks.
