Debbie McConnell did not realise that marriage would eventually be on the menu when she went to our gourmet evening at Greens Restaurant last September. Debbie, manages our charity shop in Burnage and reckons she picked up a bargain on a first date with accountant Dave Yorke.
The couple are getting married in Cheshire, almost a year after their first date. “We’d known each other through our charity involvement and had kept in touch as friends. Dave knew I’d just started work for Francis House and bought the tickets.”
The shop at 184 Burnage Lane raises between £30,000 and £35,000 a year for Francis House. “We’re so well supported and it’s more like a community centre that happens to be a shop. About 90 per cent of our customers are regulars and some call in twice a day.” Good luck to Debbie and Dave and thank you to our loyal shop customers.
