Going green for Francis House

Employees from health and wellbeing brokers Towergate Health & Protection went Green for a Day and raised £2,922.

The firm who have offices in Darwen, Lancashire, is part of The Ardonagh Group and every year staff from its network of offices, come together for ‘Go Green Day’ to fundraise for local causes.

Staff voted to support Francis House after hearing about the respite care and support the family of a colleague had received from the Didsbury based hospice.

Emily Marsden, Senior Client Services Specialist at Towergate Health & Protection said: “Francis House is a charity close to the hearts of a lot of people here in the Darwen office. We wanted to channel all of our fundraising efforts towards helping others who tragically may find themselves in a similar position to our colleague.”

“When Go Green Day comes along everyone puts their thinking caps on for new and crazy ways to raise money. This year we had an extra challenge of having to fundraise virtually, however with help from the team, we had lots of events planned throughout the day,” added Emily.

Activities from the event on the 25^th September included: postcode lottery, bingo, pub quizzes, fancy dress and pet photo competitions, raffle, sports day and virtual horseracing.

Teams from sales and admin also held a competition on who could raise the most money with the admin team coming out on top.

All funds raised on the day are matched by Ardonagh’s registered charity, the Ardonagh Community Trust.

Peter Forster, fundraising manager at Francis House said: “Towergate Health & Protection have done a great job of finding creative ways to fundraise virtually for Francis House and we are delighted that they managed to exceed their fundraising target so spectacularly. Our income has suffered as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic making fundraising very difficult, so Towergate Health & Protection’s excellent support during this time is especially appreciated.”

Thanks to the generosity of the people of Ardonagh, 75 charities will benefit from financial support totalling £115,000.
