Launch of Overseas Trek to Norway

Francis House is seeking adventurous supporters to explore Norway’s mountains, glaciers and fjords during a fantastic fundraising expedition this September.

An overseas Trek to Norway was launched at an Information Evening at Francis House, where interested trekkers came together to learn about the trip.

Several have already committed to the challenge, but there is still time for any intrigued supporters to find out more.

This will be the hospice’s fifth overseas trekking adventure, following successful trips to Jordan, Morocco, Iceland and Albania, which have raised more than £140,000 in total.

The eight-night trip, taking place from 2nd -10th September 2022, will include five full days of trekking in high alpine terrain, beginning in Jotunheimen National Park (‘Home of the Giants’) and concluding in the stunning landscape of Luster Fjord.

Participants can expect challenging yet rewarding hikes amongst beautifully coloured glacial lakes, spectacular fjords and high, snow-capped mountains.

There will also be an opportunity to summit Norway’s highest peak, make a guided glacier crossing and take a boat trip across the country’s largest fjord.

Trekkers are guaranteed to make life-long memories and friendships during this incredible trip.

Whether you are an experienced hiker or a first-time trekker, this trip is definitely achievable with the right preparation. Francis House will support you every step of the way with training advice and group practice walks to help you get fit and ready for the challenge.

To take part, a deposit of £200 is required.

The remaining trip cost is £1,300 if booked before the end of February 2022. Prices will increase after this date. In addition, participants are asked to commit to a £1,000 sponsorship target.
