London calling

We are offering places in the London Marathon 2019 to anyone who can commit to raising significant funds to support our work.

Thousands of runners taking part in London Marathon

The event that attracts more than 40,000 runners, is the largest annual fundraising event on the planet. Runners have raised more than £890 million for good causes since the race began in 1981.

Vanessa Israel took part this year, running in memory of her nephew who came to Francis House for respite care until his death ten years ago.

Having tackled a 10k and a half marathon, the 26.2 miles course was her biggest challenge to date.

Completing the race in under five and a half hours she has raised more than £4,300 in sponsorship including Justgiving

Bowdon resident Dominic Aldroft, also exceeded his goal by raising £4,650 through friends, family and clients at work.

“The atmosphere was wonderful. It was so hot I had to slow right down as I didn't want anything to go wrong. But I ran all the way and felt fine afterwards. It was fantastic, I shall never forget it.”

We are offering places to dedicated supporters who feel they can commit to a fundraising target of £2,500.

The London Marathon charity scheme includes more than 750 British charities with a total of 15,000 guaranteed places.

Julie Williams, Francis House fundraiser said: “It is so difficult to get a London Marathon place through the ballot as so many people apply each year. However our limited number of guaranteed entries and the funds generated from our runners is a valuable source of income for the charity.”

Thank you to all our 2018 runners for your hard work and commitment.

If you are interested in applying for a place for next year, download an application below and return it before the 19th October 2018 or contact julie.williams@francishouse.org.uk
