Simon cooks up a fundraising treat

Chef Simon Rimmer swapped the sequins of ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ for his chef whites to cook up a vegetarian feast to raise funds for his local children’s hospice.

Greens restaurant in West Didsbury played host to the evening of gourmet food to support Francis House.

The Didsbury based hospice supports the families of more than four hundred and sixty children and young adults with life-limiting conditions from across Greater Manchester.

More than seventy guests at the sold out event, enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal, prepared by Simon and his team at the AA Rosette restaurant on Lapwing Lane which Simon owns with business partner Simon Connolly.

Simon tweeted on the night:

The dinner included a truffled mushroom wellington in a red wine gravy and a Dulche de leche cheesecake. Diners described the food as ‘awesome’ and Simon and Greens Restaurant both tweeted pictures of the dishes throughout the evening.

Afterwards a raffle took place with Simon drawing the winning tickets.  Prizes included a Harrods Hamper, L’Oreal goodie bag and a meal for two at the restaurant.

Proceeds from the evening totalled £1430.00.

Opened in 1991, Francis House provides fourteen bedrooms for respite stays for children, teenagers and young adults as well as flats for their family members.
