Begin the New Year with a frosty adventure for Francis House

In contrast to the hustle and bustle of December and the sluggishness of Twixmas, the Winter Wander is a perfect opportunity to appreciate the fresh and open air, shake off the Christmas cobwebs, and take some peaceful time for reflection as the New Year begins.

Participants can walk in memory of someone special, in solidarity with somebody receiving care, or simply to show support for their local children’s hospice.

Five local route guides are provided, ranging from a 2.5 mile stroll around Sale Waterpark to an 8 mile ramble around the moorlands of Saddleworth.

Alternatively, supporters can plan their own Winter Wander, covering any distance, terrain or location they please, any day during January.

Participants are asked to collect sponsorship from family and friends, or instead make a donation to mark their achievement.

James Ferguson, Fundraising Officer, says “Taking part in this year’s Winter Wander not only starts your year off on the right foot, but also helps make a real difference to the children and families at Francis House. Every step you take supports those who rely upon the hospice for the high levels of care we provide; so we encourage you to enjoy a leisurely walk and raise vital funds for Francis House this January!”

The registration fee is £10 per adult or £5 for under 16s, and includes a cosy Francis House beanie hat, five route guides, sweets for sustenance, a child’s activity sheet, and a dedication sign to wear as you wander.
